I counsel both private and public employers on all aspects of their interactions with job applicants and employees, and with the federal and state agencies regulating their workplaces. As an extension of our clients’ management teams, I work to provide cost-effective, timely, and practical advice with the goal of enhancing employee relations, reducing risk exposure, and increasing the employers’ ability to prevail in arbitration and litigation if an unavoidable claim against the employer is filed. The on-site training I provide for managers helps them avoid and handle issues related to illegal harassment, disability discrimination, Family Medical Leave Act compliance, employee evaluations, discipline, recordkeeping, and workplace investigations.

Our clients range from sole proprietors and small start-up companies to large Fortune 500 companies in a wide variety of industries, as well as public employers, including nursing homes, fire departments, and public school districts. They depend on me for advice on compliance with state and federal employment laws and regulations, including wages, background checks, workplace safety, drug testing, affirmative action, mandated time-off, layoffs, and recordkeeping. I also work with clients on individual employment contracts and non-compete agreements, workplace policies and procedures, leaves of absence, discrimination claims, workplace investigations, discipline, severance packages, and termination. Employers seek my help in union organizing campaigns, union negotiations, and grievance and arbitration proceedings.

During the winter, I enjoy traveling with my family and friends anywhere it’s beach weather. When we stay close to home, skiing or sitting by a warm fire reading are favorite cold weather activities. During New Hampshire summers, I spend most of my free time in my many gardens, or enjoying the state’s lakes and beaches.
